I dont wana break any rules here, but I just found this killer deal on tires at ebay. I just bought 4 Yokohama A008P 245/45/16 tires for $290 shipped! My friend had these on his 944 Turbo and they are killer. I cant seem to find this size anywhere else, but the closest size price at Tire Rack is $256 each plus shipping. I think there are 7 pairs left (they only sell in pairs @ $100 + $45 shipping), so if anybody wants some PM me and I will give the link. These are ultra high performance summer tires, so with a tread rating of 160 they are soft. But at $50 I can burn em up and not care!

A lot of these killer tire deals are partly because the tires are old. A tire's lifespan is 6 years. After that date, they are not considered safe for mounting and any tire installer is supposed to refuse to mount them.

The problem is these tires sit around in warehouses for 2-3 years before they are sold in bulk to someone and then heavily discounted.

With cars like ours, we might burn through a set of tires in a year and it's not a problem. Other peopel go 3-4 years on a set of tires, which might be a problem if you get a tire that's 5 years into it's 6 year lifespan.

Hmmm, so those tires on came on the front of my notch when I bought it about 7 years ago are no good any more? :(

 They're about bald anyway.

Well hell, they are several years old. I hope I did not just waste 290 bucks:bang: Seller says they have been stored in a wharehouse in Florida and no signs of dryrot and have not been exposed to extreme temp variences. Odd ball size, so 20 of them sat around for a while:shrug: Two years back I bought a set of AVS Intermediats for my 89 Stang that were new, but 7 years old. I had them on the car till I sold it this year and never had any trouble with them on the street or SCCA track. Hope I have the same luck with these:shrug:

Even when stored in a nice dry dark place, the rubber slowly breaks down. As long as they are not over 6 years old you are fine.

I would be concerned if it was a "normal" person who can buy a set of tires and put 50,000 miles on them.

With us Mustangers, a set of tires is usually done in 2 years or so :)

Holy old thread batman!! I ordered them and they showed up the day I sold the car an just threw them in with it. IDK how they did
