i am moving to austrailia...i was there last month for 3 weeks i saw a 66 with convered steering over there..and now i am moving there..and having my 68 shipped overseas.. i am looking for somekind of sticker with kilometers on it..any suggestions...? thanks

Haven't seen any stickers, maybe the German Exports had them.
Approximations only, but...

40mph = 60kph
60mph = 100kph
100mph = (but only on the racetrack!)

You get used to it pretty quickly.

Whereabouts are you moving to?

I'm just going with electronic aftermarket gauges for my '65. Not sure about the NSW road regs but here you can get special registration and leave the car LHD, but it can only be used (technically) for car club events. If you're going to the trouble of converting it to RHD there's a few places that specialise in the American Conversions, grab a copy of Street Machine, I'm sure there's lots of ads in there for such. I know of some local conversion places and places to get Mustang parts but that's not much use in Sydney!

If you're planning on doing any upgrades/maintenance it'll pay to bring all the parts with you.

yes..i have a new starter..alt..waterpump..solinoid..mastercylinder...plugs..thermostat..hoses..belts..brake drums...disc cap..rotor..wheel cylinders..and other stuff...dont even have much room for my spare tire....wonder is i should only bring a rim lol

I grew up with Km/h, and I get by just fine with the Mph on my speedo haha. After a while, you start doing the conversion automatically in your head without even realizing it.

Well...

You could always change your speedo gear so that while the guage still says "MPH" you are actually seeing KPH. Quick, cheap, easy to do, and easy to "undo".

Only problem with this is you rack up more "miles" on the odometer.

1.6093 kilometers equals 1 mile. Just multiply your MPH by 1.61 and you'll have KPH. I rounded up to 1.61 since we're only talking about less than 1/100th of a mile per hour.

You can use a standard multiplyer of 1.5 in your head to get close (1.609..... is actually the true # though) or refer to this website. http://www.streetlookup.com/calculator/metricconversion.html

I would say that unless you know you are staying there for a long time, I would just make up some little sticky tabs for yourself at the key spots. I can only assume they honor a simillar general city and highway regulation as we do, meaning key points of 25, 45, 55 and 65 mph in there respective conversions, so just mark those spots and estimate in between.


EDIT: Jinks, by me a coke. Only I rounded down to make it easier to do and keep all your fingers and toes on the wheel and pedals.

Our speedlimits are kph here in scandinavia, and it's no problem driving with my mpg speedometer. Like Great68 says, you do it automaticly after a short while.... 2 - 3 weeks perhaps. I made myself a little post-it sticker with the typical speedlimits that I used in the beginning. It just doesn't take long before you do it without thinking.

Same deal in Canada.

I too just convert in my head, and it get's to be automatic after a while.

Remember:
60mph = 100kph
45mph = 75kph
30mph = 50kph

If you can remember those, you can quickly get an idea of how fast you are going..

Seriously it's dead easy. Most of the time you'll be doing 60km/h - ~ 40mph and highways are mainly 100km/h (60mph) with some parts at 110 or 90 or 80, which are about 66, 56, and 50 respectively.

And last but not least - you don't even need a speedo really, just keep up with the traffic, everyone does 5-10 over the limit anyway. If you see a speed camera, slow down.
