King on ebay.. question for you guys

If you are talking about the chrome strip that runs down the door edge, that is an aftermarket door protector. It was supposed to protect your paint if you open your door and hit an object. I had them on my car for a while. It does give the car a different look. I was disappointed that the chrome peeled too easily. I have not had them on my car for over ten years.

I have seen the horizontal strip on only a couple of other Mustang IIs. Not sure if it was a factory option or not. I have seen the kit sold at auto parts stores lately. It may help against getting door dings.

Thinking about it, I have had my car for 23 years now. I bought it June 22, 1981.

I not sure I am seeing what your seeing?? The ebay one you posted I see a door proctector strip along the top 1/3 of the door. If so thats just an aftermarket stick on trim to protect the door/fender. It looks like it has the edge stuff too.

I'll bet it's that hideous rivit-on aluminum channel with the vinyl insert that they put on EVERYTHING in the late '70s and early '80s.

I have never thought the add-on bodyside moldings looked right on a II, no natural line to follow.

I am talking about the chrome strip that goes horizontially along the side of the door and ends in the fender.. to me it looks ii specific but it might just be some chrome strip that they double side taped on there ? :-\

the body molding you are refering to is not part of the king cobra package. it is very similar to the molding found on the lower body line of the ghia cars. possible it could be on others but the ghia is the only car i have seen it on. the molding could have been installed by the dealer but more likely the owner did it.
