knock sensors

I hav been reading and see NO 4.6 SOHC CARS HAVE KNOCK SENSORS, Is this true. Then why would diablo sport say the easiest way to tell if you have detonation is i your timing drops suddenly?

That's correct, the 03/04 cobra's have knock sensors, but not us GT owners.

Knock sensors sense "pinging" so it can retard the timing to prevent detonation in the engine, also resulting in some lost power.

None of the factory blower cars - '03-04 Cobra, Gen 2 Lightning have knock sensors - I think either the L''s ot Cobra's may physically have the sensors in the block, but they are not functional. Too much blower noise interfers with the knock detection. Earlier Cobras and Machs do have them. The Machs knock sensors have the best calibration form the factory - they really work well.
