I want to order a set of Long tubes but i have heard that they will need to be removed when it comes time to change the clutch is this true???

I am going to have to pay to have the L/T installed since that is to big of a job for myself. so i dont want to have to pay again when i need to have my clutch changed out.

The hookers do not have to be removed. I assume the bassani mid lenghts do not have to be removed eitehr but that is just a guess.

BBK
mac
slp

all have to have the the pasenget side header removed from what I have read. I have not acctually insalled every brand though.

Get Hooker if you don't want to have to remove them to work on the transmission.

This topic couldn't have come up at a better time because I've been thinking about LT's a lot lately.

I was wanting Hookers, but thought about just getting BBK figuring that they'd both get the job done. But if changing out a clutch cost X amount of dollars + extra cost of most one of the headers for the install, I might just pay the extra $200 to get the Hookers that I really want.

I have a question. Can I ONLY use the Hooker off road X-pipe in combination Hooker LT's??? I'd like to keep cats on my car, but I don't know if it's an option with the Hooker LT's. BBK seems to have more mid-pipes that bolt up to it.

the reason the hooker headers only fit with their midpipe is because it is a slip fit connection between the two instead of a bolted connection. This is also what allows you to drop the transmission and do clutch work without dropping the header. If you go with their x pipe, you can always have cats welded in

So if you go with Hooker long tube headers you have to use their mid pipe? I couldnt use a BBK off road H or an off road X? Also do the Hookers work with autos, and can I still remove my auto tranny for say, a torque converter swap with out removing the headers?

Just dropped the trans in mine and I did have to remove the collector on the passenger side of the Bassani mid-lengths to get it out. It was a 30 second job with a slide hammer. If I had to do it again, I'd remove both sides that would give a little more room. Still, the Bassanis fit CLOSE to the trans on the passenger side and it took some fanagaling to get the trans out and back in.

I am 95% sure these headers work with auto trannies. You should be able to drop the trans. without removing these headers.

hooker's ought to be fine, the rest, to my knowledge may have to be dropped at least on one side

I have the Jet Hot L/T and changed my clutch with both pipes in. The Jet Hot's are modeled after the Hookers so they should work also.
