alright i'm on the market to buy more RAM for my dell inspiron 6000 laptop.

how do i know what sticks i can put in it? i know i can only hold a maximum of 2 gigs and my laptop only has 2 slots. i just dont know if all the RAM sticks are the same or do i have to have dell specific sticks?

If you got it directly from Dell you could go on their site and check the specs. My Dell E1505 has DDR2 RAM. It does not have to be Dell RAM either.

as long as the specs are the same it should work fine. dell should list the specs on their website if its not on any of your paperwork

also your gonna want to match up ram sticks (IE: 2 X 512MB or 2 X 1GB)

If you go to the dell site, you can type in your serial number and it will give you all the specs you need, including what type of RAM you need. Just take that info to your local Best Buy or Comp USA and but it from them. Or you can look at places like a1000.com for cheaper prices.

they looked like the same specs to me but i'm computer retarded. do you think the stuff from newegg.com is worth that price.

i only have 512 now so i figure the 2 gigs would reall make a difference

I've got a Dell 6000D - I pulled the build sheet from Dell's site, saw what type/speed of RAM I had and bought another matching stick from New Egg.

go to crucial.com they have ALL the memory/RAM info you need on any computer

try www.4allmemory.com I get my stuff from there its pretty good stuff and the tech support is pretty good the website has a software tool that tells you what RAM you have and how much more you can put in to max it out
