laser pulley alignment tool

Im sick of my belt alignment/shred problem. Has anybody used this Gates laser pulley alignment tool with any success. Its $120 which isnt bad, but i kinda want to hear some feedback since its so cheap compared to the other laser alignment tools that are about $800-900 that i googled.

do you have an 8 rib kit?

yeah, i have the GI JOE 8 rib kit.

i had terrible problems shredding belts before my 8 rib kit. it would ruin a belt every 300-400 miles.

since the 8 rib kit i havent had a single problem at all. check your tensioner and make sure your belt isnt too long and coming off the PS pulley. that was what kept happening to mine

cool, i'll do that. what position should the tensioner be in so i know if my belt is small enuf?

get a wrench on it and see if it is close to the unloaded side of the swing. mine sits about half way.

also did you grind off the stop tab to give it some extra movement?

ive got the stop tab ground off the tensioner. I cant remember what position the tensioner was in when i pulled everything off. I'll have to wait to find out when i get it put back together since its torn down to the shortblock right now.
