...I swear!

Alright...all I have left to do is to get the carrier outta the housing...all the bolts are removed and what not. The PO used some sort of red RTV gasket junk on it, no sign of an actual gasket. Anyways, I can't get this d@mn thing off for the life of me. Been at it for 4 hours now...wackin at it with a rubber mallet....tried to hammer in a tiny flat head screw driver, flat bar, u name it.

Do I just need to beat the ever living hell out of it or what??? Any simpler approaches?

Sigh...everytime I friggin post I friggin get it fixed lol. So scratch the above.

Sprayed some Yamalube Mud,grease, engine cleaner around the seam....stuff disolves anything. Yamalube Lubezall does wonders on pesky nuts and bolts as well. So if you ever wanna try some new stuff hit your local bike dealer that carries the Yamaha lubes/chemicals....GREAT stuff.

Carb Cleaner,Yamabond 4-6a/b/c, Contact cleaner, Gas tank rust remover and neutralizer...all really GREAT stuff!

We have a number of guys come in and buy up all the Yamabond to rebuild engines on airplanes. I need to try some of it next.

Get a nice flat head screw driver like you had and just go at it. I did mine with RVT and I had one hell of a time getting it off (not 4 hours though). Now, the best way is to use a real hammer, not a rubber one. HOWEVER, if you do, be carefull!

Edit: Really?! Where did you pick that stuff up, never heard of it. That's something I really need to have in my tool box.

You did remove the copper washers, right? Although the PO may not have put them back.
You could always try a come-a-long. Hook the cable around the yoke and attach the other end to the trans crossmember. Put some tension on it and tap it with a "real" hammer. You may want to put a couple nuts on to prevent it from jumping all the way out.
I had to do something similar on a rear end that wasn't in the car.

Oh yea I was using a real hammer too...

Get this...All the teeth look fine except for two that are chipped, so going to replace it anyways. Forgot I had a ring and pinion blow out about 5 years ago. Tough to tell without having everything apart....but looks like the guy who fixed it just left 7 or 8 chunks of teeth sitting in the bottom of the housing :nonono: . Bunch of much smaller pieces left that i need to clean out...just too tired now heh.

And I was worried about the driveshaft clobbering me...that friggin chunk is HEAVY lol.
