I've got an 03 Mach with the stock 3:55s. My best ET is 13.3 @ 105 with a crappy 2.1 60'. I finally got some DRs (Nitto) and could use some tips on launching (best rpm, slip clutch? psi, etc). I be psyched if I could get a 12.99 but that may be asking for too much. Thanks ,Jim

For a track only tire you have got to go with a M/T ET Street. They hook hard. They wear out quickly though on the street, so I'd change them to those at the track.
For a track and street tire, Nitto. They last over 10,000 miles easily and will hook at the track with a LOT of heat. You have to get Nitto's very hot to hook.
As said above, get the nittos nice and hot during the burn out. When you launch, you have to slip the clutch. These tires have a pretty firm side wall and aren't as sticky as the MTs, so you have to be GENTLE on the launch. You need to smoothly slip the clutch while adding more power. It's all about not shock loading the tires. When I launch my 97, I generally slip the clutch from 3000-3500rpm. Slow off the line, then adding the power as the tires get planted. That lets me get 2.0-2.1 60' times on all season street tires with 3.27 gears. You may have to launch a bit lower rpm to hook up since mine makes a lot less torque and has steeter gears.
Anyway, just practice, remembering to avoid shock loading the tires. I've got nittos on my 88 mustang with a pretty much stock suspension setup and get 1.7s and low 1.8 60's.
^ Yep. He's got it. They are a sensitive tire. But they are useable. I've seen Trilogy Marauders go 11.10-11.30's at 128-130MPH on 18" Nitto's. But with a stick trans, it will be a little more difficult to be consistent.
Agreed, I find 3k launches while slipping the clutch, hammer down one the clutch is fully engaged and you know your not spinning. Takes some practice. My first time no nittos (had bfgs in an auto car before) netted my 2.0 60 foots, I pull that with street tires). So some practice and a few annoying passes I got consis low 1.8's with a bit of tire spin still. Havn't made it back to the track yet but know its got 1.7's. Car is lowered with a pro kit and basica struts/shocks. Stock rear. Its quite doable. Just takes seat time.
Hell, My old car I had 1.90 60 foots on sumi's, just had a TON of seat time in that car. 4.30 gears to boot.
