Leaky coolant sensor plug

Well when i was installing my gauges yesterday the hexagon plug thing the stock coolant sensor plugs into popped out and i could not figure out how to lock it back into place. Now its leaking small amounts of coolant when the motor warms up and im not sure what to do. Here are pics of where it is leaking. I was thinking of replacing the rubber o ring that it has thinking that might fix it. What do you guys think?

well you can see the t fitting ive already put on....whats leaking is that hexagon shaped plug that the stock sensor originally screwed into.

its leaking at the bottom of the plug right where the arrow is pointing

yea but the plug has no threads on it. It does not screw into the intake manifold where the coolant is. It just snugs down in there and stays sealed with that o ring.

I bought a new o ring and put it on there and now i cant get the damn thing to push back into the hole so i think i must have gotten the wrong size o ring. Anyoen have any idea what size o ring im lookin for?

i think i may just get the old o ring and put it back on with a little silicon glue or something...

there should be threads in there right? just use a full threaded extension and add it to the fitting

t fitting wont get right temp readings the sensor is not in the actual coolant just in fitting u will low temp readings but both gauges will work if thats what u want get rid of that one and buy a brass one looks better and smaller put temp in block

tom it doesnt have threads, thats the whole thing i dont understand. Its like that entire piece just snugs into the hole. Even if it did have threads there woudl be no way to turn it becuase its hexagon shaped not circular.

If you look closely at the picture, it is leaking where that brass hexagon shaped plug meets the intake manifold. The brass hexagon plug part does not screw into the manifold, it just sits in there snugly with an o ring. My problem is i cant get it to stay back in there...

And i was going to put it in the block but i couldnt get the damn bolt out so i just said ***** it and used the T fitting.

Ahh the fabbled T-fitting!! Try finding another o-ring the same as the one you took out, you may have to go to Ford to get one. I'd do that first before trying the slicone.

yea i think ill have too. The one i got from o reillys must be the wrong diameter or something cause i cant push it in there.Oh well, back to ford

well heres an update:

Went to the ford dealership and they had no idea what i was talking about. So i showed them a picture of the intake manifold and they basicly told me that in order to replace that id need to get an entire new intake manifold.

Too bad mine isnt cracked yet damnit or i could have used that recall to my advantage.

So, what i did instead is went to home depot and got the right size o ring, then i put a ****-load of jb weld on that damn plug and stuck it in there. Hopefully i wont have any problems. If i do, guess itl be an excuse to get a nice new metal intake manifold...

As soon as i get it running ill take some pics of the car since i put the lowering springs on and the new gauges...

Hope that works!!! Give it plenty of time to harden before you start it up and hopefully it'll hold.

I was just thinking, the if your intake did crack after this and knew you had that stuck on there with the jb weld they might not cover the warranty cause you know how much pricks the dealers could be

yea i thought about that too, if it does ill just have to do my best to make it look like its stock...

Hell if nothing else ill just save up and get one of the new performance intake manifolds that are startin to come out and get a few hp in the process

yup thanks, tomorrow morning ill make sure everythings dryed up good and start her up, damn jb weld takes 15 hours to cure
