Let my Mustang go

It was a sad day yesterday. Long story short. I traded in my 06 GT for a Nissan Xterra. I have a 3 month old and a 9 year old step daughter. My wife has a TL and we've been doing all of our family stuff in that car. Well, I like to go moutain biking and such and have just not been able to since I bought the Stang. Well, I decided that the best course would be to get something more family and activity friendly.

My wife really loved my car as well. We were teary eyed to say the least. I won't be lurking and posting here until i get a new stang which will be a few years from now. I really enjoyed this website and the informative nature. SO when you see an xterra out there, know that you've got a mustang at heart.

ps, i let the car go with the fr500s and i still have the stock bullitts and a brand new set of progressive springs in the box. i may post those items later.

Ive been there man....Sold my first stang when I got married....sold the second when I was broke....hope you get a chance to own another, good luck.

A mistake I did when I first wrecked my first car (88 5.0) was to just walk away from Stangnet and not visiting the forums anymore. There's a lot of good information and people on these forums that can always use your experiences and what you learned that can always use your help. Who knows you just might buy another one sooner then you think so it's best to be prepared for when the opportunity knocks at the door.

That said I'm sorry that you had to sell the car but if it's for a good cause (family) then it was worthwhile.

Truth is I didn't think that the deal would be good enough. I figured I'd get numbers and go home and comparison shop, meanwhile take off the wheels and radio. WEll, I also didn't like the idea of "prepping" for the inevitable. My wife keeps telling me that this is the first time she ever had an emotional connection to a car.

She was there when I bought it (as my girlfriend). I drove up from SoCal to San Francisco to propose to her. I started to teach her to drive a standard tranny when we found out she was pregnant with my son.

maybe I'll get a fox next go around to work on until my boy can drive it.

Don't feel to bad about it. I traded in a Cobra vert for an Audi A4 when I had my first child. I upgraded the A4 to an S4 and full circle I bought a 05 GT vert. I have 5yr old and a 2yr old that I put in the back. Moral of my story... you will get yourself another Mustang, and in the meantime, enjoy your children (and mtn biking).

Second Generation Nissan Xterra Forums

The X's run well for being a boxy vehicle; my wife tools around in a 06 Xterra.

I would have put a trailer hitch and a four mount bike rack off of the class two hitch on the back of the Mustang.

I made sure to buy my wife a family vehicle before I stepped back into a GT. I also made sure to get an auto GT so if we had to switch, we could do so.

should have kept it. im 16 and i have a little brother, my parents have always had a mustang since the time i was 4.... those mustangs were our family cars

but i can understand where you needed more room, the mustangs did get a bit squished but oh well i loved showing up to places like school and the movies in them

can't wait until i have my own...

Well...just so you know, my wife suggested the other day we trade in her TL and get an automatic mustang. I think that's why I married her. No, I know for a fact that I will own another Mustang. Right now, i'm thinking of project ones. Maybe a 1990 GT or a classic. Either way, Mustang is in the blood now.

Notch, yeah, I hear you. If the stang was auto, I think we would have kept it. But it's so much fun having a stick stang. Talk soon guys.

I have the banger in the Notch, but for DD duty in heavy Chi-town traffic where it can take an hour to an hour thirty to go a whopping 20 miles, I went for the slush box in the 04GT. The 5R tranny is leaps and bounds ahead in shift logic compared to the 4R and I certainly would rock a S-197 in auto form.

My uncle had picked up an 06GT auto, had an itch for stick and traded up to an 08 stick Gt only to trade it back in for an 08 GT 5R car.

If the TL is paid off, I'd just hang onto that as it is a nice car. I do like my 04GT but I also am aware of the short-comings of the old chassis. While it is tighter than my notch, it still pales in comparison to the S-197 cars.

This is how I solved my Stang and family issues.

I also like that I never have to drive the gang around at lunch time since I have no room. Ah, the simple joys of life.

"slaps head" I can't understand that. I do everything in my Mustang.... hell I drove my '68 Mustang to an 8.90 pass with my 3 year old daughter in the passenger seat. She loves it!

Oh man update time, really quick.

The Xterra became Xterror, and was a lemon buy back- Bought a new 2010 Ford Edge. Very comfortable and cool tech stuff.

Just got my hands on a 89 Mustang GT from the original owner. Paint's all cracked and chipped, but otherwise, the owner had taken pretty good care of it. Best part is I've got a mustang again!
