So on my 98 GT, apparantly it has a different fuel pump than that of a 97 GT...Thing is, my car is in the shop getting checked out right now and i have a trip planned for tommorrow where i'll be driving about 1000 miles. I suspect the fuel pump is giving out and i'm looking to see if i can use a 97 pump in my 98.

97 retails for right around 100 bucks and the 98 is around 200+ depending wher eyou get it from...two different prices for two different pumps with diff part numbers.

Does anyone know the difference? I'd like to save a bit of money if i could and throw in a pump off a 97. They're both return style unlike the 99+ where i could see where the difference would be...

Thanks for the help guys.

all I know is that they switched to the returnless fuel system in 98. thats why the pumps are different

no the 98 was first year for returnless. kinda funny cuz gm switched the vettes to returnless in 98 also. it kinda sux but yeah u just have to pay more for the returnelss systems pump. It sux cuz i jsut got a walbro 155 for my g/f's car and only paid 78 bux for it. i have a y2k and its much more expensive

i see this as the perfect opportunity to upgrade to 03 cobra pumps or twin svt focus pumps, or even an aviator pump.
