Lights turning off on their own

Hey guys, I put my 93 GT on the road for a couple days cause the wifes main vehicle is busted and while driving to work the last couple of mornings, I noticed that my fog lights would turn off and on by them selves and my headlights would go from on to the day time running light on its own. I would turn the headlight switch off, then back to on and everything would work normally for a few more miles and then the same would happen again.

What do you think is the problem? Does this car have a daytime running light box that could be crapping out? If so, where is it and if I unplug it, what else will I loose?

Any suggestions are appreciated.

it sounds like u have the mustang meltdown. this has to do with th fog lights, try driving with out the fog lights on see if that problem stops. i know there is a site that has a wireing diagram for the fog light shorting issue if that is what you have. i had the same problem i jsut dont use my fog lights anymore, makes thing easier.

Yes it seems to be the melt down. I have tried it with no fog light and I have no issues. The link in the first reply should fix it.. I will do that when I do my modifications..

Another question, can I disconnect the day time running lights in any way?

93 mustangs don't come with daytime running lights. If your lights are coming on with your ignition it's because someone wired it up that way.

Well that answers that question.. If it was wired up that way, would they have had to install the day time running light box to accomplish this...If so, how would I disconnect this.

It may not have a box. When exactly do the lights come on. When you turn the key on? When the engine is running only? Be specific

Some late Canadian foxes do have DRL's, correct? If yours is one, that's needed info if folks are going to help chase wiring diagrams.

Canada started requiring DRLs in 1990 so 1990+ Canadian foxes should have a DRL module. US vehicles will have the harness with a weatherproof shorting cap on the end. To bypass the DRL function you will have to either acquire a shorting cap or perform some creative wire work.
