linelock wiring problem

I have it all wired just didn't have the solenoid in. I know it's getting power because the light I wired in lights up. but no clicking from the solenoid. does the solenoid have to be grounded. This this is an easy wiring setup. From the battery, it goes to the solenoid, from the solenoid it goes to the switch, from the stitch it goes to ground. That's the wiring. Now why am i not getting any clicking from the solenoid when I did my wiring check? What could be wrong

Figured it out

The light was on the positive side of the switch so I had to take one wire from the light from the positive side of the switch, and then run another wire to a different positive source. Then when I hit the switch, it connected the ground and the solenoid works and so does the light
