I have Stage 8 header bolts with locks that go against the header tubes on my 306. Now, someone told me I should retorque my header bolts after the new motor's first heat-cycle. But they didn't know I had locking bolts.

So my question is, should I:

A-torque them now, install locks, forget
-or-
B-heat cycle, then torque, and install locks

I have them too, I let the Engine go through several heat cycles before retorque and then put the Clips on.

If the Heads of the Bolts have holes in them you can alwasy Safety Wire them.

I need to get a set of them.....I am tired of having to tighten mine up every couple weeks. And i cannot stand the sound of a exhaust manifold leak

Heat cycle and tighten up in a week or two.

Over time, they will stay tight longer.

My 79 has had headers since 1987 and I don't need to tighten them but a couple times a year.

I used allen head bolts so I can quickly get on them to tighten them.
