im getting new tires tommorow so i want to burn the **** outta these ones. question is i know how to power brake i do it by reving to like 4,000 rpm then dumping clutch and hit brake. i want to be able to do it longer then like 5 seconds. i see videos of 5.0's doing them down a road like mad long and mad far burnouts and its smoking the whole time. how do you make it longer?

Ok now you're talkin my language!!! First you need to learn the "heal/toe" method....take your right foot and learn to apply the brake and the gas at the same time....usually giving the car 100% brake and enough gas to get the tires frying. When you wanna start "walking" the car, gently let out of the brake enough to get the car to roll but not take off, and keep feathering the gas and keep the RPMs where you want them.

2 things i can't stand to see in a good burnout:

1) you don't need to rev your engine to 6k to do a good burnout.
2) don't waste your time with 1st gear. Put the car in second and bring the RPM to about 2500-3000 RPM and drop the clutch. Remember to already have your heal on the brake and apply throttle with your toe. Some guys have feet wide enough so that it's not really your heal and your toe, but more like the left side of your foot on brake and you roll your foot to the right on the gas to adjust throttle.

This isn't just a good technique for goofing off though. When i'm at the track i do this in the burnout box because it keeps you from picking up burned rubber from the other cars, since you're constantly moving to another patch of tar to burn out on. Also in road course racing, heal/toe racing is used to keep your RPMs in the power band durring shifts so that you don't downshift too hard into a corner and bark the back tires and end up sliding into the grass.

Oh....if you want a good example, click here :D http://videos.streetfire.net/video/2e685e28-cd53-4f80-841f-508a32c26c36.htm

Just get on the brake and start out with a brake stand then ease off on the brake. Use 2nd too. You gotta be fast as hell to keep it going to do a 1-2 shift and get back on the brake even though I've done it before. Just roll out on the brake until it starts moving, but be ready to countersteer. My car starts wiggling around and if you don't steer it right its on the clutch and brake and pray you don't hit the ditch that you see through your windshield. Heel toe is a great technique but I never really got good at it. I just move my left foot real quick.

I never did the foot switch because my feet are just too damn big and wide. I can shift through every gear that'll spin but personally i don't think it's necessary except for style points or showing off lol. My best friend is really good too....at a cruise in our car club had last year, we all do burnouts before leaving (of course) and nobody seemed to be able to do a good one, so i told him to get out and to the 1-2-3 for my camcorder. He stuck his hand out the window and counted off each gear..lol. It was pretty rad but i lost the video in my last hard drive crash and it's not on tape anymore :(

The highest gear i've ever spun is 5th in a twin turbo RX-7...probably the nastiest car i've ever driven....when those turbos spooled up, your ass was in for a hell of a ride lol.

Start it in second, and feather the gas around 4 grand.

If you have a good set of gears, and some power, do what I do, and 3rd gear, SLOW roll, and dump it, brake, and hold.

Yeah, i like to get rolling a little in 2nd and then hit 3rd and walk it out....once you get the RPMs around 3-4k in 3rd gear, the tires are FRYIN but be really careful because the ass end will get out from under you REALLY quick this way.

Yea but i got big feet so the heal toe method is hard for me.. should i be able to do a long one if i rev car up in 1st gear at like 4k dump the clutch hit the brake and keep on the throttle also while hitting the brake?

is'nt that like the heal toe method. and to smoke them while i take off after i burnout just ease off the brake a little at a time while still keeping throttle down?

yeah we saw your amazing techniques with that badass lawn mower you have. whats your best one about 3 inches of rubber on that tarred parking lot? :D
