try jacking the motor up on the driver side and moving the motor mount nut up so the engine sits a tad higher and frees up the column.
That won't do anything unless you shim the motor mount - you can buy shims at auto zone. If you don't shim it, the weight and vibration of the motor will just settle it back down to where it was to begin with (that stud/nut will not hold the motor in place by itself, the mounts have to sit flush with the K-member).
If shimming the motor mount doesn't give you enough space mark the header where its rubbing with a marker, then take the header of and beat the crap out of it with a hammerI had to do so when installing my MM k-member because the rack gets moved up so high.
The shaft runs through the MAC headers. Piss poor design. My shaft runs around my BBK L/T's. Last summer I put a new firewall bearing and new steering shaft in my car, and it took about 5 minutes. I didn't even know the L/T's were there. I had tons of clearance. I would return the MAC's and buy the BBK's.
