i recently put on bbk long tube headers for my car. i also have a mac prochamber, and cat back system, and a k&n cold air kit. i know it's not much, but i spend more money on my mountain bike. don't ask how much my bike costs...anyway, i here people say if you get long tube headers, you should get your car tuned. i haven't gotten it tuned, but i don't know how it would effect it, but for some reason, my car has gotten worse than it was when i first put the long tubes on. the first problem i had was that i would pull out of my lane, and the car would just start to cut power, and i'd have to down shift to give it gas to make it run, or the engine would shut down. another one is, the sound of my car. it sounded great after i put them on, especially with my prochamber and mac cat back system. classic hot rod type car sound. now it sounds like it's really weezy, and like air is shooting out somewhere. the header bolts and tightened, the connections are tight(headers to pipe, and pipe to cat back), and now it sounds like crap. so now i don't know if it's really a tuning thing or if there's something else i should know about. i don't want to waste money(because i have none) for a tune right now, but would it solve the "engine just cuts power and shuts down" and "my car sounds crappier every day" problem? if someone knows, let me know. sorry for the big book i just wrote.

oh yeah, i forgot. i'm new, so i don't know how to add stuff, so i'll reply to myself. i don't know much about cars, but as far as the hissing sound, i know the difference between long tubes with h-pipe sound, and my car sounds like crap sound. it's pretty obvious, but i guess nobody would really know unless you're there. also, my car sucks when i start it. it's like it takes three years to finally start. maybe i need a new fuel pump.

Is the check engine light on? Have you pulled the codes? Do you live near an AutoZone? AutoZone pulls codes for free.

What year Mustang? How many miles?

Exhaust leaks are a probable cause. Also when you add longtubes it does affect the air fuel and it is more beneficial to get a tune and maximize the longtubes abilities.
