When the engine is cold the turns quickly and the car starts right up. When the car is hot and I'm going to start it, the starter turns very slowly like the battery is drained. My thinking is a hot engine should turn more freely than a cold engine. Could the long tune headers be heating up the starter making turn slowly? I using a mini starter if that makes a difference. I hoping that someone has a solution for this issue.

Sounds like it's overheating to me. I built a little shield for my impala out of a used tire and sheet metal. Gota try and keep it cooler

It's worth a shot to make a sheild to see if it will help. It shouldn't take too much time or money. I've been running Mac long tubes for years, though, and have never had a problem.

Your starter is getting heat-soaked by the passenger side header and the solution is the DEI starter versa shield (DEI-010402) from Summit Racing. I have it on my starter. I also have my plug wires insulated with Taylor spark plug wire boots (TAY-2528) to protect them from my MAC LT header tubes.
I just gave it a good look and all the header tubes spread lenghtwise to get around the starter and it must just bake. Plus I hid all the wires in the fender walls and sealed all the extra holes and smooth out the engine bay. So that's less air passing through. I'm going to fab up a shield plus get the Heat Shield Wrap.
