Long Tube Headers on '92

I used a block of wood and a 3 1/2 ton floor jack supported the oil pan right behind the k member. Then unbolted the motor mounts from the motor (4 bolts) Jacked it up about 4-5 inches. i had to swing the motor from side to side on the jack to get the longtubes in but they slipped right in. Usually a good idea to take off your clutch fan and the shroud as well. U might need to take off your bellhousing but i found that my main concern (getting the starter reinstalled, wouldn't have been an issue its actually easier to get the bolts with the longtubes on!) It took me like 4 tries before i finally figured out what to do... then it was easy. I did it with a friend but it could be done alone if need be. I also unbolted the motor mounts from the k member positioned them where i wanted them to be then lowered the motor back onto the mounts. (had some steering shaft clearance issues and it helps not to lower the motor back down cockeyed to the right so it hits the steering shaft lol.) What brand of longtubes did you get? i got the BBK's, they fit awesome and sound incredible. Hope this helps.

What brand of long tubes are you installing? If they are mac, you need to remove the steering shaft to install the drivers side. To install the passenger you need to jack up the motor. When I had the 302 in mine I did the mac long tubes and thats all it took on my car. I did not have to remove the starter or unbolt the motor from the bellhousing. If I lived closer I would give you a hand. Good luck.

yea man just mapquested it you're like almost 2 hours from me. If next weekend wasn't 4th of july weekend with the summer nationals in worcester i'd consider making the trip. I honestly think you're capable of doing it up yourself. After knowing what i know now its definitly a one man job just a slight bit more time consuming but none-the-less something you could tackle on your own. Just read what i posted above and you should be fine its not anything complicated or hard. I'm not sure how your whole emissions thing is going to work out though i went with the offroad pipe and deleted my smog stuff made working on things quite a bit easier (hated that last header bolt on the passenger side). Let me think about it and i'll get back to ya about possibly doing it up saturday. What do you have for tools etc?
