Made an attempt to install my MAC Long Tubes the other day but ran into several problems. First off, I can't even get the motor mounts loosened up, so I couldn't jack the motor up. Second, I also couldn't get the oxygen sensors loosened. My main concern is, do I have to jack up the engine to get the long tubes in? What tools/materials can I use that will help me loosen up the nuts on the motor mounts and O2 sensors?
Thanks,
Brian

PB Blaster, ZEP penetrating oil, pure wintergreen oil. These are my favorites. The wintergreen oil works the best, but it needs to soak longer than the others. I'd take wintergreen over anything you can buy at any auto parts store.

Take out the H-pipe with the o2 sensors in it, new ones are around 50 bucks. You will have to jack up the motor to get the passenger side one in, did you try loosening them at the k-member or the motor, either will work. Also, you will have to remove steering shaft as it runs between mac long tubes, and then re-install it once the header is on. Good luck.

you don't have to completely remove the steering shaft. just undo the rag joint. you may have to use a small torch to heat those motor mounts up. that's what i did along with a nice breaker bar. i had to climb that mountain too. first time's a pain. i think you should atleast loosen the tranny mount if you raising the motor.

i jacked the motor up by the crank pulley(using a piece of wood). you'll be suprised how much the motor will move side to side and tilt. don't get too frustrated, take your time and it won't feel like a chore. these things take time. you're not one of the nhra pit crew members. are you?

use a breaker bar and a 21 or 22 mm socket (i believe done the install 5+ times) take the 6 or so little bolts outta the stock plastic fan let that hang and raise it up. then they should slip right in.Then drop the h-pipe and use a 21 or 22 mm wrench to take the 02's out.(you can take them outta the harness and still pull the h-pipe out) then enjoy.

If you've got the extra cash to spend, it's a good time to install new motor mounts since you're unbolting the motor anyways.

Buy some allen head bolts for the headers. If you have to donate blood and plasma to get the cash, buy these bolts. And remember, buy these bolts. Dont forget, buy these bolts.

Oh yea, buy the allen head bolts for the headers. Can't stress that one enough.

P.S. You get the point. Buy the damn bolts.
