I am driving to look at a 95 convertable this weekend. It looks to be in really great shape. It is all stock except for a SS flowmaster system and has 67,XXX miles...

Firstly: he says that the only issue with it is that it needs the rotors turned and it has a shimmy when the brakes are applied. I am not worried about turning rotors or even buying new rotors but I am worried that it may be another issue. Do the cobras have any issues that are similar to this?

Secondly: Is there anything specific I should be looking for on the car? Are there any problem areas for rust or anything else? How about mechanically?

Lastly: Is $9,700 a fair price to pay for a clean 95 Convertable?

I have a 95 cobra vert. with over 70k on it and it runs great. I bought the car with 38k on it and have had no major problems. The only problem I can think of was the rear stabilizer bar breaking (This is a pretty common thing among these cars). I bought a new one for around $100 bucks (easy install) and have had no other problems. It all depends on how well the car was taken care of, but they are pretty reliable. If you are concerned about the brakes, ask him if you can have it checked out before you buy. I would try to negotiate for around $9,000, but it's a pretty fair price. Hope this helps

i would consider go with a 96+, that way you'll get the DOHC 4V instead of the old 5.0L

+1 You get more HP out of the box.

I'd also look to see if there was NOS installed. Check for screw holes in the trunk, etc.

I think for that price you can get NICE coupe...with a 4v. The 302 cobras (especially the verts) are gonna be pretty down on power compared to new edge GTs, etc. On the other hand, you don't see a whole lot of cobra verts ....around my parts anyway. It's still a sweet car, you may just be disappointed with the power.

Look at the "my new cobra" thread. I paid $8200 for that car with no problems so I think $9700 is a bit high unless you prefer the 5.0.
