This is a question in search of information. I actually have an XR4Ti and happen to be doing a '99 GT front caliper swap with SVT Contour rotors. When I picked up a set of used calipers, I found that one piston was cracked. Rather then use it, I was hoping for a junkyard replacement that will fit right in rather then scour the net for an obscure part. Are the same size pistons used on anything else easier to source like a pre '99 mustang, a Crown Vic, Taurus, Thunderbird, etc?

The GT mustang front caliper should be very cheap. I wouldn't be suprised if you could find a used set. Guys switch them out constantly for bigger ones.

Personally, I would go to NAPA and get a reman set.

The cost was one of the reasons I went with these calipers. I already have new seals on the way and if I can go to the yard and pop another one out and use it, it would work fine.

I'm sure they are a great upgrade from your stock ones, judging from the weight of the car. Become a Craigslist troll and you will be bound to find a set.

As far as power to weight ratio, a 51/63 T3/4 hybrid with a port/polish 2.3 making 300 horses around 5800 RPM at a weight ratio of 3100 ibs. (with me in it) I need good braking power. What cheaper then twin piston GT calipers? I've already got turbocoupe disk brakes on the rear. This will really help the front now.

The front brakes do most of the work.

3100 is not that great. Been to the quarter yet?

3100 isn't bad in full trim with the spare. It's my daily driver.

It's built more for for autocross with a rebuilt suspension and poly everything running adjustable Koni's all around on 200 ib springs front and 400 for rear with 215's on 16's. Nothing too crazy. It still out handles many newer cars when I come up on a 90* at 40 MPH, yank it and hang on. The car sails through as if on rails.

Ok, so I brag a bit. Who wouldn't?
