Hello, I am looking for a reputable provider of collectible car insurance. I currently have my car covered under my main policy and want to change after finding out I won't be covered for the "true value" of the car if it is stolen or is in an accident. Do they all require that you have the car garaged at all times? I currently have it covered in my driveway and am planning on renting a garage for the winter. Any information would be appreciated!

I have it on my car and it has to be garaged and you have to have another vehicle as your daily driver.

I don't have it but have looked at Hagerty(sp). I will likely use them and an "agreed value" policy. I second what Shakerhood said, it has to be garaged and a secondary driver according to the policies I've looked at.

It's definitely going to be a secondary driver on weekends in the summer so that won't be an issue. The problem I will have is the garage since it will only be stored for about 4 or 5 months out of the year for now

Grundy is the way to go, agreed value, rates are less than Hagerty and all I needed to do was send in a couple pictures and have a primary vehicle.

When I had American collectors they required a locked garage. They also don't do business in Idaho so when I moved I had to change

taken right off their site

QUALIFY FOR COLLECTORS INSURANCE.
Do I Qualify?
To qualify for our Collector Vehicle programs, drivers must have:

  1. A minimum of 5 years, licensed driving experience
  2. A good driving record. No more than one moving violation or one at-fault accident within the last 3 years (up to 2 per household)
  3. One regular-use vehicle for every licensed driver in the household (exceptions may be made for full-time students and retired couples)
Does My Vehicle Qualify?
  1. Be driven on a limited basis and not as a daily driver.
  2. Not be used for racing or timed events
  3. Be kept in an enclosed, locked garage (alternate garaging options may be permitted; contact our representative
  4. We will consider ANY vehicle that has collector merit and is appreciating in value.
