Loss of power at high rpms

Hey everyone. Just got my baby out of the garage. It's been a year and a half. Got the oil changed, radiator flushed, and the rear end serviced. I drove the bad gas out of the car and refilled it with good gas with some fuel injection cleaner.

Yesterday, I drove my car and when I went full throttle, my car still snapped pretty hard "at first" but then as the rpms raised, it felt like my car didn't have any pull whatsoever. The engine sounds like it's producing plenty of power so I'm not sure what can be causing this.

I'm somewhat of a rookie so bear with me. I'm thinking it a fuel or air problem. I have a K&N Air Filter and I'm wondering since I haven't driven my car in a year and a half, if it needs to be cleaned.

Any suggestion on where I should look besides the air filter??

what kind of gas cleaner did you use? With ur car sitting that long you should have drained most of that fluid.

I didn't use a gas cleaner actually. It was a fuel system cleaner. I believe I used the Slick 50 brand. I did burn the old gas down to 1/8th a tank before I added the fuel system clean and a full tank of 91 octane. What do you suggest?

full tank of gas and one can of Berryman B12 you can get at any autoparts store. Um did you look at your plugs? Sometimes you can tell what going on by them. Good Luck!

Haven't had any problems with the fuel pump since it was installed 4 years ago. It's an aftermarket 255 lph.

First thing to do is yank codes - your 87 does not have a functional CEL, so you wont know otherwise.

Go from there. B.Blahson might be onto something. Here is another thought - run some heat in the tank with injector cleaner. If your car actually sat for that long, that gas had to be but varnish and condensation mixed together. When doing codes, run a cylinder balance test. It will note if any injectors dont seem to be up to par.
