Lots of problems with my new 94 5.0 Please help!!!

ok so i picked up a 94 stang with the 5.0 H.O in it. has the t50 5 speed.

so the dash lights don't work so i can't see any of the guages at night.

i can roll down the passengers side window with the drivers side switch but can't roll it up. and i can roll the passenger side window up with the passengers side switch but not down.

also i would like to know how to replace the front core support bar and if anyone know where to find new ones.

any help would be great.

im new to mustangs and don't know much. im thinking it could be a fuse for the dash and windows.. or could be wiring which i hope it isn't. any help would be great please and thank you.

Welcome! I'm not of much help but...with your gauges not working..I'd replace the fuse.

As for the windows...could be bad switches?

core support is on ebay cheap we replaced one on a 98 cobra. pictures of that process are in my build thread. a step bit helps alot to drill out spot welds.

I've found the window problems are usually due to the terminals getting corroded where the wiring plugs into the switches. Take your doorpanels off and use a test light to check your power connections.

Gauges are prob. going to be either fuse or your headlight switch. The dimmer goes bad sometimes.

i check fuse #13(dimmer) and its good. how do i check the headlight switch? my headlights come on when i pull it.
also how do i fix the window problem once i get the pannels off and check em. just un corrod them or do i have to get new ones?

so i took the trim off, took the headlight switch off, disconnected the wiring harness from the headlight swtch and found that the plastic harness has been melted but none of the connections on the switch seemed to be corroded. one wire has been spliced and re connected. im going to try to re splice it and see it if works. thing is i don't know which wire is for the dash lights.

That harness always fricken melts. I have yet to change a switch in a Mustang that didn't have a melted harness. It seems to work just fine even with a melted harness though. Go ahead and change the headlight switch while you have it out, it's inexpensive, and it's likely the problem. The dimmer wire is the blue one with the red stripe. You can check voltage on that one direclty out of the headlight switch. The window switches have a tendancy to go too. You can get replacements at Late Model Resotration Supply Mustang Parts & Accessories at 50resto. Buy the number of switches you need +1. One is likely to fail shortly after the other, so why pay shipping twice. I think they were $16/each last time I ordered a few.
