Loud Fuel Pump!!! Help!

Hi again all....sorry to keep starting threads, but i just got this thing and i was curious about a few things....

The fuel pump (i think) is VERY loud.....i can hear it at idle sitting in the drivers seat over the exhaust...it makes a very high pitched whine coming from the back end of the car near the gas tank...

is this normal for this car?? I think it might be on its way out, but I just making sure.....

I don't think it's 'normal,' but it is very common. Ford fuel pumps are loud to being with. The sound is accentuated as they become older and worn. It's probably on it's way out.

The fuel pump in my T-Bird has been screaming for the past 2 years. I'm not fixing it until it's broken.

Mine is pretty loud too, I think thats just the nature of the beast.

Like Joe said, it is common but not nessecarily "OK". Mine was loud as hell too before I changed it and everything seemed to be alright. They are just loud. It is when the pitch starts going up and down that you might want to change it.

my old stock one you could hear it prime its self up at start up and it was pretty loud. The aftermarket one I have in there now is so quiet, I cant hear it at all.

My stock pump has gotten pretty loud too. I can stand about 15ft behind my car when it is idling and clearly hear it.

my stock pump was loud from the day I bought my car, replaced it with a walbro 255 recently to support mods.
