My low oil light will not go off. it is always on. I know it has enough oil because it reads right on the dipstick. it didn't even go away when i changed the oil, so i know for a fact there is enough in there. could the sensor be bad?? if so how do i change it?

sounds to me like the sensor. the sensor is looked right near the oil filter. you can't miss it. it is less than 3 inches away from the oil filter. it is screwed into same assembly as the oil filter.

The sensor reacts to oil PRESSURE, not oil level. You can have plenty of oil, but weak pressure due to a weak oil pump or worn bearings, for instance.

The good news is that the sensors fail more often than oil pumps do, so a new sensor is worth a try. First, make sure the sensor wire didn't just fall off.

They should have them at Autozone or Pep Boys . . . give them a call.

a 96 has a oil LEVEL light, it has nothing to do with oil pressure. Changeing that sensor should fix your problem.

he is saying that his low oil light doesnt shut off. this is a level sensor problem and not a oil pressure sensor problem. this sensor screws into the oil pan. at least the do on the 5.0's
