The "Low Oil" indicator on the dash board keeps turning on. I checked the oil and it's fine. Sometimes it turns on and sometimes it turns off. Any ideas what might be wrong?

It's a 96 GT 5-speed.

Thanks

Me too. It only happened a couple of times in the last year, but scares the ***** out of me everytime. I think the sensor might just be very sensitive. I dunno, but I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Maybe you have a bad oil pressure switch.

Edit: wait a minute, I didn't realize you said low oil, not low oil pressure.

Mine does the same thing. I think in 96 they place the low oil sensor in a bad location. Everytime I park on a hill, with the nose facing downward, my light seems to kick on when I start the car.

I own a 96 GT 5-speed.
When I park 'downhill',
when I start the car, sometimes the 'low oil'
comes-stays on.
That said, keep your oil FULL.
Half a quart low, add half a quart.

The switch is question is not the oil pressure switch. If you climb under your stang and look in the side of the oil pan you will see a sensor there. Make sure the connector is plugged in good and the wires going up are not bare
