No, I don't believe you have to evacuate the system to change the pressure switch

Right,... I appreciate that you do not "believe" but before I take something apart that is under HIGH PRESSURE I would really like to be sure instead of "Beside" myself because I am BLIND nothing personal but I would really like to be sure. Have you taking one of these off before? I suddenly stopped getting Electric to my Comprressor for the clutch, right now power stop's at the "Low Pressure Switch" and then I get nothing at the WOT Relay from there. Continuty is fine no short's wire is good all the way except at the Accumulator.

Are you sure there is enough freon in the system to trigger the lps. That is its purpose. If it doesn't sence the right pressure it will interupt the current flow to the compressor. Just don't want to see you buy a switch for nothing when you were just low on gas. You can jump the switch and if all is good the comp. will run regaurdless of how much freon is in the system. Let it run with it jumped. If the temp gets good and cold then there should be enough freon in the system and your assumption about the lps is correct. If it doesn't get that cold than your low on freon and don't need the lps.

Some of them are adjustable too. There's a small screw inside - something to try, even though a new one is fairly cheap.
