went to the track today and made 6 passes, highest trap speed being 99.84 which i feel was a little low, ive read of people trapping 101 stock, best et was 13.86 @ 99.84 with a 2.11 60 ft. this is on an 04 gt, triax, flowmaster catback, mrt catted h and steeda lca's, dynoed 244 hp and 290 ft lbs sae. plus my best ets came by shifting into 4th around 90mph, this dropped about .2 off of the et and picked up .5-.8 mph, i only trapped 99.00 when i crossed in 3rd, any ideas why so low of a trap and what kind of 60's should i be able to get as the car sits

I feel your pain. I've yet to break 101mph trap speed. I'm still working on a combination of mods to do it. Your 60 ft. could be a little better, but considering you got a 13.86, if you were to cut a 1.9 60 ft. you would cut a couple of tenths and perhaps pull a higher trap speed.

I noticed you said you're shifting to 4th at 90mph...do you have stock 327 gears? Before I switched over to the 373's I never had enough track to shift to 4th.

some spin from 1- 2 none on 2-3, yea i have stock gears, it just runs better et's shifting into 4th. if i run third throught the trap it wont come out of the 14's, had a 2.087 60 ft and trapped in 3rd but only ran 14.033 @ 99.02, next run with a 2.114 60 shfted into 4th at about 5200 rpm and clicked of 13.991 t 99.8

well if your getting some bad spin, that's gunna slow you down. but i dont see it slowing you down that much. as for the shifting into 4th thing, that could have been a fluke. you may have shifted at a different shift point on the one/two shift, or a number of different things. bottom line is, the more times you shift, the more time you are losing :nice: if you can go across the line without shifting, do it

actually bad wheelspin is the difference between a 13.2 and a 13.7-13.8

i know, thats what happened until i learned how to redrive with the 4.10s.

same 60's too.

yeah but the mph.... would it be that much lower???. i can understand the et being messed up badly, but he does have some mods & he is still trapping that low

after looking into it some more, people are saying that the 04's have 3.55's, which would explain why i cant trap over 100, now that im thinking about it, when i trapped in 3rd, right at 6000 the needle was only at 100, gear calculator says its like 106, anyone know for sure if the 04's have 3.55's?

My car is a 2000 GT 5-SPD CONVERT with all the regular bolt ons and 3.73 gears. I have run as high as 102 mph. My best et was 13.50 and my mph was 99.8 . I have run 13.5 a few times and the trap speed is always right at a 100mph. My 60 ft times are usually 1.9 - 2.0 . To me your car sounds about right.

That could be due to a lot of things. Higher MPH through the traps usually means you are getting excessive wheel spin. If you are trapping lower, you could have been getting much better traction, worse conditions then the last time you were out or maybe you were staged really shallow at the line.

There could be multiple things though.
