I have been looking around at exhausts for my 91 GT, and I really dislike the hidden "dump" tails for the GT exhausts. I was thinking of putting a flat-tipped LX system on it and doing some half circle cuts out of the bottom of the GT bumper and exposing the tips, but have them flush with the bumper... sort of like the New Edge/s197 stangs. I looked around on the forums and internet and found some really nice ones and some reaaallly ugly ones. Done well, I think it would look great, but what do you guys think? Anyone done this and have pictures?

NOOOOOOO! If you want LX tips do it right and install a '93 Cobra style bumper cover. Hacking of the GT bumper cover looks like S--t! And, flattening of the tips will obstruct air flow.

Here's how its done "properly"

I did the LX tails on my old GT Vert. Do not hack the bumper. It will look terrible.

dumps work well with a gt bumper, but pretty much a gaurantee that you will grow out of them

No such thing! Well come to think of it I did see one that had a set of rubber nuts hanging from, and a rebel flag flying from the rear bumper.
All together it looked OK

Haha these reactions are what I was expecting! Yes, the cobra rear looks really really nice, that's what I would really like to do, just not sure if I'm willing to drop 1k on the rear bumper after I buy it and have it painted....

Certainly don't want to hijack the thread, but curious about something. What are you guys referring to as "dumps"? I have a FM cat-back on my 92 GT that has turn downs right under/end of the bumper. Is that it? Sorry, just always trying to educate myself. Thanks in advance!
