M&H Radials, tire pressure, launch point?

Hey well first time out w/ the radials didnt go as well as expected its re-learning the whole car again!

first pass had 19psi from the looks of it too much pressure, launched around 4krpms real bad wheel hop terrible run.

2nd pass 18 psi got better i didnt leave the line at all, around 1000rpms it was ****ty 2.3 60foot

3rd best pass best of night, 15 PSI in the tires. 2.0 60 foot w/ a 13.90 , 1st and 2nd spun some pretty good.

Not sure what tire pressure to set these at or where to leave at in 1st, not to mention i should of done longer burnouts.

We run that same tire, with our auto, 20 psi with a 1.86 60ft. unless your running rim screw, so you don't spin the tire on the rim, I wouldn't go below 18 psi.

hmm ur in an auto im in a 5 spd, so we leave the line differently.= /

man i dontk now i had 18 psi in it and i left hard and the car did not like it ,bad wheel hop something banged. i dropped it to 15psi like no wheel hop and it hooked better but still not gr8 i need to figure it out i cna try 20 next time i guess but wut RPMs to leave

Try leaving at 2400 rpm and slip the clutch alittle bit, you should be in the 1.7's with a stick. If it hooks then raise the rpm in 200rpm increment's till you find what the car likes!!! I have rane 9.03 at 164.86 mph on a set of 275/60/15's at 15 psi with a best 60 ft of a 1.41, what I have learned is be consistent and take small steps in your launch rpm's. Our 06 gt ran a 12.98 at 105.63mph leaving the line at 1500rpm in a auto, it's got 4:10's, M&H dragradial, C&L street intake, and pedator 93 octane tune. This is fully loaded, not gutted and stripped!!! Good luck

Does your 06gt have upper or lower control arms?

i have 3:55gears w/ 375/50R17 so i know im losing a little gear, besides flowmasters and a light and line-locs the car is stock but i would think w/ the radials i should go 13.7 or so.

yeah im going to have to practice more everyone is telling me to get control arms as well.

Stock lower control arm's. I think with some seat time you sould be able to run 13.5's.

yeah im going to have to change the air pressure and drive it better, like i did on the stock tires around 2000+rpms slippin the clutch a lil.

One thing I noticed at the track was how bad the manuals had wheel hop when they launched hard! I had read about it, but seeing it was a whole new story! Looking at the video clips of my runs I had NO wheel hop, but moderate wheel spin. Perhaps that is due to the fact that you can't launch a stock automatic higher than 2000 RPM without it starting to powerbrake.
I wouldn't think more than a 10 second burnout would be required for a basicaly stock Mustang on DRs On my stock radials, I only did about 5 seconds to get them clean and some heat in them. For the heck of it, on my last run I really roasted them(over 10 seconds easy) and it did not impact my 60' time at all Out of my first 5 runs they were between 2.027-2.044. Then on the last run it dropped, but only to 2.050.

The susp is stock except for some lowering springs. Slip the clutch and it will help with the wheel hop, just remember ever car reacts differant.I really haven't messed with the susp. I would like to jack it up and see what the pinion angle is, And the lower and upper control arm Bushings are crap, so I'm sure that with a 5spd car you might be getting in to positive pinion angle. If you get a upper that is adjustable you'll want to set it at -3 or -4 deg. for a good starting point. also if your car is lowered, you need to remove the stock bumpstops, I'm not sure if anyone makes a lower profile stop? But if your car is lowered 1 1/2 inches you only have 1/2 to 5/8 inch before you hit the stop's. Hope this helps you out!!!!!!! Gregg
