I am putting new mufflers on my fox and I wanted to get a set of hooker maxflow mufflers cause I heard very good things about them. But I wanted to get a good deal on a set of used ones. A guy is offering me a set of mac flowpaths with flowtubes for $30. I was wondering if they flow well or if Im wasting my time and money? I know thats a good price, but let me know what you guys think.

Thanks,
Dave

They're good mufflers...i've had a couple sets. Sound real nice too.

Here's my buddy's car, he has all MAC exhaust, but it's a pretty mean 347 so it won't sound like this on a stock engine View attachment 323712

I had them. They sounded awesome. Very deep powerful tone.

But I actually took them off and put flowmasters on my car. What can I say? I love flowmasters

I like the sound of Bassani's mufflers myself, but you will not find them for $30.00 used or not!

I LOVE my MAC Cat-backs I have on my 91 5.0L notch and my 81 4.6L notch. They sound unbelievable. And they are easy to install and take back off as there is no welding required. No clamping required. Just simple ball and sockets through out. You can take the tails off any time you want. Go for the MAC.

This is my 4.6L NO cats, MAC catback dumped over rear axle...NO TAILS

This is the same car same exhaust with TAILS!

I too had MACs with a Pro Chamber and they sucked ass until i got an X pipe. Totally changed the sound altogether. They also sound 100% better with tail pipes IMO.

I agree with 5.0 and 85SS. The MAC mufflers with the MAC Prochamber does not sound good. MY 2001 donor car had that setup with longtubes and it sounded TOTALLY different then as it does now with with stock manifolds and a BBK H-pipe as shown in my video.

I agree with the DynoMax mufflers too. 40 bucks and Murrays has them in stock all the time. I have them on my 96 Cobra. Quiet off the gas, somewhat loud on the gas, but 100% a good sound.

I had flow masters. They are one of the worst flowing mufflers. Thats why I hate them. I have race bullets now and they are too loud. Thats why I want to get hooker maxflows because they flow good and are not too loud.

I ran Bullets for about 1 mile and took them right back off. They just sounded too much like an open H pipe to me. No tone, no rasp (even with an X), just noise. If i had an X back when i had my Macs i would've never got rid of them...i blamed the sound on the mufflers when it was really the Pro Chamber.

About the same as any chambered muffler, not as good as a straight through like Magnaflow or similar.

As far as sound goes, they are like a deeper more bassy flowmaster and have similar drone too. Loud muscle car sound if that's what you're looking for and don't mind the drone.
