I have an 04 gt which of these would sound better mac catbacks or magnaflow magnapacks? I like the deep oldschool sound but i dont want it to loud or to much drone when im on the highway!

Magnaflow Magnapacks will give you a more racey exotic sound esp when paired with an X while the Mac will give you a deep rumbley tone at least around idle can't really comment on their drone but the packs aren't that bad and as far as loudness goes with the straight through design of the magnaflows, they basically get louder the faster you go.

I think Magnaflows sound better but they do have a higher-pitched sound similar to a race car on a circuit track. I say just go to mustangexhaust.com or check out some vids on youtube.

The Magnaflow Magnapacks will sound great and there isn't a drone when cruising on the highway. You'll still be able to talk and listen to the radio without any problems.

As for sound differences check out MustangExhaust.com - Blog like 32ValveRom suggested or look some up on YouTube. There are tons of videos out there with people showing off their exhaust systems.

I love my Magnaflows, but as far as which brand "sounds better?" Only your ears will be able to tell you...listen to a few different exhaust combos in person (at a meet/car show, etc) if you can.

G'luck.

+1 I would listen to all exhaust clips you can find on youtube, streetfire, or any other video hosting site and try to find other mustangs in your area and listen to their cars and see what their setup is. Asking people online is usually just going to get you responses that include their setup. Since they bought it, obviously they think its the better of the two.

Good luck though.

I'd say for you tastes go with Mac, because packs get super loud at speed and I can't carry on a conversation or listen to the radio with my set up. I like it though because it kinda quiet at idle so I can control the noise more around cops and such but when I go wot it sounds like a nascar.

Well I had both. I first had Mac for 2 years with a catted MRT H pipe. I then had the macs cut out and the packs welded in. The packs sound very good and not any higher pitched then the Macs with an H pipe. I now have LT headers VRS catted X with the packs. It does sound a litter higher pitched but its mean as hell. With the Macs I had a lot of drone in the car and with the packs I still had some with the H pipe. Now I have no drone at all with the VRS X pipe and love the tone.

That's because with an X pipe and strait through mufflers you won't get any drone. Its hard to explain what drone is but if you have it you would know. Its usually around 2,000-2,500 RPM.

Drone is basically like a loud hum. No rumble, no growl.....just

hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Its more of a problem with chambered mufflers around 2K rpm.

Exactly this. Which is the main reason I'm seriously thinking about getting rid of my flowmasters.
