Long time since I posted. After 17 years and 70k miles, my Mach 1000 head unit CD function died. I read numerous threads on how to correct the "CD ERROR" problem and none have worked. It looks like this unit is toast.

Any idea where I can get another? This car remains in mint condition and although there are some good options for direct replacement, I'd prefer an original. I'm sort of that anal about it. Just taking a stab here to see if anyone has ideas.

Just make sure you purchase the mach 1000 unit and not the standard cd6. There is a difference.

worst case however, the CD changer portion of the head unit can be swapped out. I’ve done it. Problem is the CD changer failure was a common issue.

these radios actually need to be shipping in a special shipping mode that puts the changer in a certain position. Without doing that, one good jolt can damage the changer.

Its your lucky day! I just replaced my stereo with a pioneer, I have the stock one from a 2003 Mach 1, same one your looking for.

Unfortunately that's a Mach 460 unit and not a Mach 1000 unit that the OP is looking for. There is a difference.

It still has some value as original radios for Fox and SN95 mustangs are climbing in value. Honestly..if it works, box it up and store it away for 10 years.

Are you sure about that? I was told I had a Mach 1000 unit in the car since it didn’t have the subs in the trunk???

Yes. I'm sure. The Mach 1000 system was not an available option for the 2003-2004 V6, Mach 1 or 2003-2004 Cobra for some strange reason. It was only an option on 2002-2004 GT coupes and convertibles

This is the Mach 1000 head unit. You'll note it says MACH1000 on the CD door and the upper right button says MACH.

Also, in the trunk you would see the large amp rack and subs. The below is exclusive to the Mach 1000 system. The Mach 460 doesn't have this.

Was a great gesture. Sorry if I came across as a know-it-all. Just want to make sure everyone gets the parts they think they are getting so save everyone from a headache down the road.
