Mach 460 AUX is it there? or a mere myth?!?

I own a 2004 Cobra, prior to that I owned a 2004 GT, I recall ripping out the stock 6 disc head unit in the GT and NOT seeing an Aux input. I haven't ripped out the Cobra's head unit but theres a button that says AUX (top left of the head unit) I have heard tales, Mythological rumors if you will, that there is in fact an AUX adapter on the back of the 2004 head units. I just wish to hook up my Zune player and refuse to by one of those crappy (and expensive) FM transmitters. Any enlightenment will be much appreciated, thanks again stangnet

If its not there Whats the best way to go about hard wiring something in so I can plug in my Zune.....Am I looking at a Best Buy run or an online order?

Do you have a disc changer? On the GFs Jeep I spliced into the audio in from the CD changer and she pauses the disc and enjoys the Sansa. It may also be possible to splice into the power amp inputs. That will be trickier but any thing beats an FM modulator. EBSCO is crapping out on me right now but if you need the wiring diagrams I can get them for you.

The changer is integrated into the head unit. It's in-dash.

I also have wiring diagrams available from Alldata.

I'm going to keep an eye on this, I'm curious if there's a way also.

It doesn't take but like 10 minutes to pull out the radio and find out. I just pulled apart mine the other day(it has an aftermarket cd player though). Just unscrew the shifter knob and take it off. Pop off the plastic piece with the boot on it. Unplug the cigarette lighter and the whole piece comes off. Pop off the other piece around the radio with the ac vents. It should have 3 plugs to unplug and it comes all the way off. A couple screws and the radio is out. You would have to do it anyway to hook up the aux input...

I can't remember where I saw the article, but SOMEONE out there had opened their radio up and soldered a wire with a 3.5mm headphone connector on it to a few terminals inside, where it worked off of the AUX button. I can't for the life of me find it now though.

very interested in this thread, mine has the SAT radio button and it would rock to have my sirius hardwired, Now IIRC there was a thread in talk a long while back about a device that plugs into the antenna port on the back of the 460 and has a connection for the antenna But also has a wire that connects to 3.5mm male plug so you have a solid connection for the mp3,ipod,sat radio, etc

You do recall correctly tag4car, there was something I browsed upon about plugging into the atenna port, and now I cant find it However I do not recall the 3.5mm male plug.

Hopefully someone pulls through with a solid answer!

There are add-on units that create an AUX output, but no actual connection.

The mach 460 has the ability to control an external changer and these units create RCA inputs that connect to the changer controls. A simple RCA ro 3.5 adapter and I would play my Ipod and Sirrius through the Mach 460 head unit.

This is what I used.

I use one of these in a portable box I use in my work truck.

Open FM Direct Adapter (Wired Relay)

not sure if this is what you guys are talking about.

It plugs into the antenna port in the back of radio, then your antenna wire plugs into box. it has a plug that will plug into your sirius FM slot. it still requires you to tune your fm radio to the same frequency as your sirius. but it will allow you to use any frequency without interference from radio stations.

I'm not sure if it works without a sirius radio. never tried it.

So does this mean I would have to put all my songs into 6 playlists to use this? That seems like a little counterproductive to me unless the track names showed up on the screen.

Also, does this device work with an iPod Touch?

I've only used the one with the 3.5mm jack. I didn't buy the one with the actual Ipod interface cable. They sell them, but i cannot comment on it.

I bought mine primarily for sirius, but since it's a 3.5mm jack, i plugged the Ipod in through the headphone jack and used it manually.

In my G35, i put an aftermarket Ipod adapter in that allows you to control through the head unit. But since it was not designed original for Ipod, it's very clumsy. I find myself having to pull over to set playlists or find artists

I'm still not entirely sure how this thing works. I understand that it essentially creates RCA jacks, but can you control the ipod from the existing Mach 460 head unit? Or are you limited to the 6 playlists (one for each of the Mach 460 changer slots)? Sorry for all the questions.
