On a few occasions when I had the radio and bass turned up fairly high my headunit has shut down and reset itself to all of the defaults.

when im on the interstate with the windows down i turn it up, only about 2 bars from full. and with the bass all the way up and that's when i have problems, it does fine just cruising, i thought i blew a speaker so i got off and started checking the rears. and the amps will burn ya if you touch them, that can't be right. or good for the car.

amps have a safety feature that makes them turn off if they get too hot so they wont burn up internally....so an amp being hot is normal...the amp is trying to get cool and of course it will be hot, so it's ok...thats why they are mounted in open air...would be better if they had fans
either way nothing is wrong, just try not to play it as loud or turn down the bass a little bit

If you get subs and still have the mach 460 head unit be sure to get a bass control remote/knob so you can adjust the sub volume without changing the speaker bass. Thats how i got mine set up. works well.

i have a newbie question.
What type of speakers do the mach 460 have? Are they special speakers from ford or are they actually infinity or bose or yada, yada?

Never had any problems with my play/amps/speakers - if it still has warrenty, take it in and get them replaced - it is not normal... I have been on 18 hour trips with bass cranked... not one issue.

I know the Mach 460 Head unit is made by Sony but I don't know about the speakers... (Mach 1000 head unit is made by Visteon)

Here is a good informational site on our Mach 460s and Mach 1000s.
