Hi i am debating on getting a mach 1. I live in the north west suburbs about 30 min away from chicago and it snows here. I was wondering though if the car can be driven saftely with a good pair of snow tires in the winter?? I will have access to some SUV's in the winter sometimes because of my whole family owns SUV's and i dont want to buy a beater beacause of insurance and having another car in my family's garage.

I've driven my Mach 1 daily since the day it was delivered on Dec. 4, 2002, in major snow(22"), sleet, freezing rain, and all that other crap that comes out of the sky between December and March! I don't have snow tires, just use common sense and a light foot on the accelerator. Of course, if things get really bad, I drive my wife's Explorer Sport Trac 4x4

I agree! I live near Chicago, too, and I have had my mach about a year and 1/2 now, and it's my daily driver...snow, rain, etc. I do put on some snow tires in the winter since i had them from my 01 gt, and that does help, but not necessary. Mainly, like TR03Mach1 said, use common sense and a light foot and don't expect to be in a huge hurry and you'll be fine. Oh, I have had a few late nights in which there was a tiny dusting of snow on the drive way and there was no way I was getting up it....but that's about it!!! Have fun!!

The stock Goodyear Gatorbacks will never make it in the snow.

I had my '03 ZY Mach out to turn over the gear oil and got caught in a dusting the next morning. I was sideways all the way up the street. I have no idea how anyone would want or could drive a V8 Mustang in the snow without some blizzacks! I bought a beater and called it a done deal.
