I was grinning under the hood and saw that the throttle body is different from that of the 00GT; more oval shaped. I don't recognize that throttle body from any other models I have looked at. Other than shape, how is it different from the 00gt throttle body? Just curious, and this is the place to ask.

Does anyone know a weblink or post where I can learn more about the throttle body?

Leave it to MM&FF to have what I am looking for. The Mach throttle body is a 57mm twin throttle body, whatever that means, but does explain to me the oval shape. Has this unit been used in other models, or is it unique to the breed?

I remember reading this article quite a while back. "The trick is to control the air bypass by the air filter so the air doesn't go through the scoop and just push out through the fenderwell. Closing out the exit through the entrance is really how you can pressurize it and get a poor man's supercharger out of the scoop". I haven't cracked the filter box open yet, has this been addressed? Is there a mod to improve on this design?

Also nice to know: "It does work. It provides clean, fresh air and I will guess at about 80 mph or faster it creates some positive pressure at the air filter, which is accidentally about the same speed at which the '69-70 ram air started functioning." I remember this article: http://www.musclemustangfastfords.com/features/0303MM_Mach1/index.html

And, I got to change my sig! I deleted the part where I state that the Mach smokes my modded GT

Burly,

It is the same TB used on the 01 cobra. Currently BBk is making a twin 58mm and 62mm. You would have to port-match your upper intake to use them.(Accufab makes a single blade but there would be a lot of cleanup to do) I have only heard of a few people trying them with little gain. It appears for a
n/a car the stock unit flows plenty of air. For more Mach info check out the
Mach1 registry.

Thx for the reply Steel. I have discovered the Mach websites, so I haven't been here much. From my searches, it does not appear that anyone has improved on the intake system on the magnitude I am looking for.

I still have my stock 2000GT filter box with snorkle mod, which actually worked quite well until I installed C&L. I see myself going with a NEW K&N, pulling the new snorkle, and replacing it with my modded snorkle, just for grins, maybe at a dyno. Just a random thought that keeps banging around in my head, but that filter box-snorkle is identical to the 2000
