I made this tool to help me when I start taking apart my interior. Seems like there are so many of those plastic retainer clips/screws. I went to my local auto parts store and they didn't have anything. So this is what I came up with. It's made from 1/8" x 1 1/4" flat steel stock. I bought mine at Lowes. I bent an angle in the vise, and drilled a hole to start. Then used a hacksaw to cut down to the hole on each side. I filed everything smooth and put a bevel on the end with my bench grinder, I cleaned it up a bit and it's ready for its first use. Hopefully this will replace my screwdriver and needlenose pliars.

Matco and companies like that have these tools that look just like that. Pretty neat to build your own though.

Looks good! I'm surprised your auto parts store didn't have them. They are usually around $7.

Yeah I know, I thought it would be a tool readily available at the auto store, maybe it's just that they were out of them or something...I really didn't think about Harbor Freight or Matco. The Matco set of 5 tools is $65.00 and it's a nice set. BUT....I tried mine out last night and it works awesome. Pulled those clips right out.

I got my Matco from when a stereo shop left it in mine otherwise I wouldn't have it either haha. Still a good solution vs snapping those crappy plastic pieces. I think it's just gonna happen over time with those breaking.
