I know the first one is a Nova, but some quick cars. That track in now abandon. It's really sad that it was closed.

I never got the chance to go there, who owns the track now? Why did it get shut down, was it noise complaints, I can't remember, but I know at the back of my head. I think its total BS. The only track I've raced at is silver dollar, and ATL Speedway is now rumored to have a track in planning.

Thanks for the compliments.

Dallas (SE dragway) closed after 50 years of operation basically due to being offered a huge amount of money for the land. Gene Fuller and the Hardy Boys Chevy dealer ran it. An old man who owned the land leased the track to them, but he died last year and his kids just wanted the money. A developer bought it but it turned out that they can't build there because of some reason. The first thing I heard was something about it is build on an old landfill that was abandon in the 1920's, and then I heard something about it having to do with water controll, I am not sure.

The big probem is that there are neighborhoods visible from the track. We know how prissy some people are, build a house next to a track and then complain. They couldn't do squat for a long time, because the land was grandfathered in, but now it has changed hands, so they would have to get it rezoned, and with the neighborhoods right there, that ain't happenin'.

The track is rundown, but it was a good local track. A lot of fast cars went there. It used to be the big track, back before Commerce (atlanta dragway) and silverdallar. It used to the a 1/4 track, but I don't see how. The Southern Nats and all were once heard there. Richard Petty raced there and had a big weck when he drag raced. It used to be the big thing in georgia, there was Southeastern and then there was Yellow River, then of course Speed Shop dragway, all dead now. Yellow river is a trailer park.

Yeah, he was a good-ole-boy, but that nova ran a low 5 second pass. Cars like that weren't uncommon. I went to Commerce and Silverdallar and I will say, fast cars were alot more rare. 5second-6second street cars were not a rarity there. (thats 8-9 seconds in the 1/4)

Most of that vid except the last two runs were in the same night. What was funnny wasn't picked up over the engine noises was the commentary by some of the supra/import people there. Of course thier 1000hp supra wasn't there, they were just "checking out the track" I guess to see if it was worthy of thier god-car. My buddy and I were making fun of them. I told them if they brought it there, I would even help push it to the 60ft because it would probally get there faster that way. Of course it never showed at later dates.
