After almost a year of pondering what engine combo I would like to Build... AND BUILD ONCE.

I have made up my mind...

I will be far exceeding the limits of a stock block, so my options were a 9.5 Dart or an 8.2 Dart..

I would love to build a 427, but I truly don't want to have to deal with the extra headaches of finding special headers, dist, front acc, intake, and most importantly, making sure the only hood that I want to have still fits....

SO, I will begin acquring parts for a 3.400" stroke, big bore (4.125) 363..
Rod Ratio is 1.58:1
Compression will be 9.25:1 with AFR 205's..

Scat competition Rotataing assy with H beams, probably just use probe dished pistons..

I will stick with a fairly mild hyd roller from ED Curtis

Intake decision is not final but I'm leaning towards a trickflow R..

I will be ditching my S trim for either a Cogged T-trim or Passenger mount YSI.

Shooting for 450 flywheel horse NA @ 6500 RPM

Goal is 650 RWHP on Pump with the blower, which should be no problem..

Should be ready within a year..

you have NO IDEA how long I have been thinking about this...

I just didn't want to spend 12 grand on an engine and not be happy with it..

My block and rotating assy should be capable of about 1200 hp..

Supporting mods will be full aeromotive fuel system, aem ems, and viper spec t-56

Man, you'll be at 450 without the blower.

At the flywheel without a problem...

I was reading thru my stacks of mustang magazines and actually came across an article they did with a Dart 363 using 195cc heads and a 9.7:1 compression ratio.. They made 47x on the dyno..

I had already made up my mind but that reassured it..

I have really done NOTHING performance wise to my car because I didn't know what I wanted..

I was talking with a friend the other day and told him the whole reason I bought this car was because it was supposed to be my RACE CAR.. My other mustang was pretty.. this one was supposed to be fast... I guess I got a little sidetracked lol....

Now that the interior is done, minus the roll cage, I am back on track where I started 4 years ago, except with ALOT better paying job

I'll pick up an AEM standalone

You're looking at it backwards. In order to get 450 flywheel hp, you are going to have to run a big N/A cam, which is only going to hurt you when you put the blower on. If you want the engine to run well on boost, build it to run on boost, and don't even think about what it's going to put out N/A. That method of deciding on a combination is counterproductive.

It will never be run NA.. that was just something to gauge with..

With the big bore stroker and moderate compression, it honestly shouldn't take a monster cam to achieve 450 at the flywheel.

It will have a blower grind which will obviously focus more on exhaust duration than intake.

I go back to work in about 7 weeks so I'll start buying parts shortly thereafter..

Fuel system and AEM, along with the block will be first.

How much rwhp can one generally go on pump gas? Isn't 650 a bit conservative? Not saying its not alot, but you definitely will have the setup for more.

I think I remember him saying something about a conservative 650 tune and then also a more aggressive tune in the 800-900 range.

Yes, I am being a little conservative, BUT, I'm not the type that will tell you I plan on having 1000rwhp and then NEVER even get close to that..

Plus, I honestly have no idea how I could ever hook up with any more..

The traction issue is one of the reasons why I have decided to stay with a blower instead of going turbo like I've always wanted to..

I don't own a drag car and won't ever run slicks.

Don't be jealous lol.. Its not all its cracked up to be..

I'm a Union Boilermaker for the time being.. I travel around the country working (generally) on Coal Fired Boilers, (power generating stations)..

When I work, I usually work 7/10's for 6-12 weeks... then have time off..

They try to work on them when power consumption is at a low, so spring and fall, and keep them running in summer/winter..

So, that leaves us with summers and the middle of winter off...

It pays great. Both my cars are paid for..I have lots of very nice toys. As hard as it has been, I have been smart enough to sink very little of my money into my car... I love working on it, but there are bigger priorities in life..

Which is where building this motor kind of sucks...

I HATE traveling for work.. It is SO hard to have a serious relationship and I can't stand missing out on so much when I'm gone...

So.... My goals this year are to pay cash for a newer F-350 and enclosed car hauler, along with building up some savings so I can start my own Solar Energy company where I live, saying goodbye to traveling....

With that being said, only my Spare money goes into my car...

But now that both cars are paid for, and I have basically run out of things to buy around the house, I should be able to get this motor running within about a year, if I work hard enough...

oh yeah, I'm not going back to work for about 7 more weeks
