It's actually 3.5". The MAF inlet OD is 3.5" and the outlet OD is 3.0".

so you could basically stuff on a cone filter to the outlet and clamp it!??? homemade CAI ;well a warm air intake.but it would be better than stock....

Cone filters mounted on the MAF have a reputation for messing up airflow through the MAF, thereby destroying idle quality.
The theory is that turbulent air from the fan disrupts laminar flow through the MAF.

I have a cone filter on my MAF, and have no problems. My MAF is a C&L as well, which should be a double whammy, but the car idles prety well.

As an aside...
Has anyone seen a honeycomb screen used to help straighten out airflow before the MAF?
There was a thread on turboford a while back about doing this with turbo setups.
Maybe it would help in this application as well?

Yea, but you have a Tweecer. That's like my comparing my quarter mile time on a steep downhill. How did does your car idle without any Tweecer? Since I know that you know about the engine ruuning well and you can data log, I'd LOVE to know!

Is the air filter in the engine bay? Sucking in hot engine bay air is bad. Just do a Tweecer RT log (with the ACT) over different driving conditions. But, to get a better idea, you'd have to relocate the ACT to the "94/95" location where it's in the air box.

In stock form, the LMAF comes with a screen. One of the well known tuner companies STRONGLY suggests using a screen with the LMAF.

However, I think that a lot depends on if there's a pipe between the MAF and filter, length of pipe, type of pipe (smooth vs "folding"), type of air filter. type of air box, air path into the air box, and so on.

Yea, there are a ton of variables. That's why I suggest people get the 94/95 MAF with a square to round adapter. Then, go to smooth tubes (better) and get rid of the air box silencer. But, to be "safe", that's about it for mods. The new ProM's are nice. But, they are expensive. Few people will get much of a gain by going to the ProM.
