MAF sensor question

Does it matter if the MAF sensor is mounted upside down? I just picked up a 89 LX with a Paxton Novi2000, GT40 alum heads, E303 cam and a custom ram air setup. The MAF looks like it should fit a 94+ and it was bolted to an aluminum air box upside down.

Orientation shouldn't make any difference at all.
