I have stock headers and a stock H and am looking to add some sound to my car. I don't plan any other mods soon because of a college budget so what should I get. I live in a very quiet neighborhood so I am worried that the Magnapacks will be too loud and wake up my neighbors. On the other hand I am worried that the regular magnaflows will be too quiet for me. I do about 30 miles of 75mph highway driving to school everyday so I really need to keep the drone down. I'm going to order one of the two on monday so any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

neither. you're right, the regulat magnaflows will be too quiet, especially if you still have your stock H-pipe. personally, I think the packs sound like crap. Look into Bassani (a little pricey) or Mac Flowpaths, I like those 2.

A lot is going to depend on what you plan to do with a mid-pipe or not in the future.

I haven't looked much into flowpaths, I am sort of hooked on magnaflow just because I have read so much about their quality and ease of installation. The bassani would be cool but I can't afford that price till I graduate and get a full time job.

understood. im in college myself so I know what you mean about the money situation. I'd get the regular magnaflow, but its still not a lot louder than the stock system. I just dont like the packs, sound like a popcorn machine to me. just my opinion.

I do hear you on the crackle of the packs. I like the low tone of the regular magnaflows. It is still quite a bit better then stock, right?

So I was just listening to some clips on mustangexhaust and am liking the Borla systems. Where would you say they fit into the picture? Are the stingers just more deep than the magnapacks? Also they re pretty expensive, is it the same thing as magnaflow where you can call and get a better price? Thanks

I recently installed Magnaflows on to my O/R Prochamber. Loud enough for me.

I agree, they scream at wot, (you hitting the highway) and have a very nice rumble at idle (you in your neighborhood), and no drone. The stingers are a bit too harsh for me, but I'm old!

From us old school guys that have been around since the original muscle cars, the packs sound perfect. Classic rumble without an amplified fart can sound. Packs are loud enough to draw attention but not so loud like Flows to be annoying.

Go for the packs. You won't be disappointed.

So how loud are the packs from say idle to 2,000 rpm? My driveway winds within 15 of my neighbors house so I can't be shaking their windows when I get home late. I know that everyone says that the regular magnaflows are just like stock at idle, I guess I am just looking for the median in between too loud and just like stock.

At idle they are pretty quiet. It's not until you really get on it do they get real loud. When I fire up my car people say, "damnnnnn....." and when I'm driving under 2000rpms they sound great but not super loud. I leave for work at 5:00am every morning and don't worry about waking anyone up. But if they are up they can probably hear me just a little bit.

Btw, at my old job in Vegas, when I would get off of work and fire up my car in the parking garage, all sorts of car alarms would go off. Trust me, these are a perfect blend. And if you want more afterwards, put in an after-market "H" pipe with your catback.

I like the mellow sound of the magnaflows at idle, but when you get on it they really scream.

heith001,
So can you tell at idle that the exhaust isn't stock? Is it noticeable? I assume you have the stock H pipe. Thanks for the help.
