Last night I was driving my car to a friends house. I drove it with no gauges cause I was in the middle of that when I had to leave. Well, when I first started the car, the sounded like it didnt want to start, this morning I found out that it wont start. When It did start last night, my radar detector was going crazy, For no reason it just kept going off like I was getting a direct hit from a radar gun. I turned it off and turn ed it back on and it kept doing it, no matter where I was. Then my radio starts to go on an off, sometimes just losing sound and other times the radio would actually go off. Last night on the way home it went off and didnt come back on. And when i was driving I noticed all my lihgts, including my headlight, lights behind tha A/C panel, and the clock were not as bright as they usually are. Then I had to blow my horn at someone and my horn isnt nearly as loud as if was. And when I roll the windows up or down, the do VERY slow and it soundls like the motor is dying. Im hoping its just the battery. HELP

1. Get the battery tested
2. get the alternator tested
3. Redo the positive connection from the battery to the fusebox. That can get corroded without you seeing it.
4. redo all the chassis grounds
5. redo the two engine grounds (driver side of timing cover and one at the driver side motor mount)

I'd say there's a 90% chance it's in one or more of the above. A problem like yours where it's effecting the whole car, should be fairly easy to fix.

I just went to Advance and got my batt tested, they said its fine. I got back home and it cranked because they charged it. I went got the alt tested and it fine too. My friends truck did the exact same thing, and the batt kept dying. They kept telling him it was fine so he just bought a new battery and no more problems. Its one of those crapper advance batteries.

FWIW, when the charging system is not putting out enough juice, the clock goes out, the radio shuts off, and something else happens (I cant remember the other item that takes a chit).

Are you real sure you have decent voltage at idle, and that it increases as revs go up? A good alt and battery, and bad wiring = crappy charging.

Good luck.

Im going to check the wiring to the alt. But I dont understand why it would all of a sudden just do that.

EDIT: Im hoping that other item that goes out is the gauges. Cause Im not gonna be happy if I blew my cluster.

Well I thought the coolant temp gauge worked. It moves but its not right. It just went past the H. I pulled over and I could leave my hand on the radiator cap. It was not hot at all.
