This is the situation. I'm getting a new 07 Mustang GT. Not feeling like paying over a thousand for the Shaker1000 since I keep hearing how great of an aftermarket sound setup I could get with similar money. I listen to a huge variety of music ranging from R&B, Rap, Rock, Classical, Jazz, Pop, Techno, and even A Capella. So I'm looking for something that'll provide a very nice clean sound with a good thump for some heavier bass sounds.

Anyone think they can help design a good setup that'll cost around $1000? Links would be great. Thanks a lot in advance!

Oh, and preferably with equipment from Best Buy as I got multiple gift cards for it.

I also will be using an iPod to listen to my music, so satellite radio, etc. aren't necessary. Thanks so much in advance for I am quite sound system retarded!

Are you starting with the standard radio, or the Shaker 500? That makes quite the difference. Either way, I'd suggest a head unit as the first upgrade.

I like my set-up that i have so far. pioneer 7800, JL 10w3v2D4(got it for like 150 shippped) a1200 amp(150 shipped, more now). Ported JL Spec box(very easy to do) Then i was gonna go with some MB Quart 6.5"s and a suitable amp, that would put you right at 1K

I have the Shaker 1000 and replaced the head unit with a Valor Nav unit and bypassed the amps and used my old amps from the company i used to work for. I changed the crossover points to all the speakers and it sopunds 100 times better with more power. The bass from the doors is almost more then the fatcory 10" subs in the rear.

+1 on the JL 10W3. I like Boston Pro mids though. Look on ebay for deals on used stuff. You can put together a pretty decent set up for $1k. For ex. I just got 2 JL 10W3'S FOR $70 (only gonna use 1), Alpine mrd 300 (300rms @ 2 ohms-matches rms of sub) for $45. Its not the greatest in the world, but better than average and for the price, not bad. Or through Best Buy to use your certificates, I'd say 1 Alpine Type R 10, the Alpine amp (cant remember model) that matches w/ the rms of the sub, Type R 6.5's, and amp for them, oh yah you need a head unit too. Alpine or Pioneer. I ve always loved the Alpine hu's Ive had.

i have 1 jl 8" w7.... is far far far far far louder than the 10w3v2 i had before it.... and is a smaller box too. only downside is it cost more, and you have to use a jl amp, cause it runs at 3 ohms, but it's my recommendation

pm me or check in the audio classifieds and u will see the sound system im selling. it will do what u want plus some! all you will need is a wiring kit and hook it up to the head unit. i have a video of the sub in my car playing walk it out...its pretty freakin loud..the camera sound gets all messed up when the bass hits.
