Making fog lights stay on with high beams!

Thanks a ton guys!

GettinThere- If you can get me some more details on how you did this I would greatly appreciate it.

This info is for my car, I don't know for sure if it will work for yours. In the power distribution (fuse) box under the hood, there are five relays. According to my owners manual, relay 5 is for fog lamps. Pull out relay 5.

Look at the prongs on the relay, with prong 87 at the bottom, prong 86 to the right, prong 85 to the left, and prong 30 at the top. There is an unnumbered prong left of prong 30, this is the prong to cut. I used a Dremel and cut it flush with the base of the plastic relay.

Thanks for the help again!!

My car is also a 2002 GT so hopefully it will be the same. When you did this the fog lights stay on at all times the parking, highs, and low beams are on. Correct?

I'm out of town for the weekend and won't be able to try this until Monday but I'll let you know if it's the same.

mine is already trimmed down but it doesn't work

On my '99, there was a "cut out relay" in the distro block under the hood that disconnected power to the fogs when you hit the high beams. It was seaperate from the relay that provided the power. I built a jumper that just connects the two pins perminantly. Now the fogs work the same as they normally did, but also with the high beams. If I want to go back, I just pull the jumper and plug the relay back in!

I have an '03 GT and used an alternate method (though the "cut the pin off the relay" method should also work OK if you have cut the proper pin). It has worked perfectly for 5 years.

The advantage of my method is you can easily restore factory operation if ever necessary, just by plugging the original relay back in.

I've described the mod in this pdf file: http://members.cox.net/n0v8or/fogs_with_hi-beams.pdf

This is identical to what 2badstangs suggested in the previous post.

Talk about a stupid law, you cant have your high beams on when in traffic but its ok to have the fogs and lows on in traffic. How would the fogs and high beams be an issue when there are no cars in front of you.

Technically you can't use your fog lights on a clear dry night anyway. I was once pulled over for having the fogs on during a clear summer night.

I'm sure it's just a blanket law. It's meant for a few specific vehicles but they just apply it to every car.

Our fog lights suck anyway. I could be in a pitch black neighborhood and flip my fogs on and off and the only thing they would light up is the gravel 4 feet in front of my car.

At least upgrade to diamond clear fog lights
