Well after owning my Cobra for more than a year it now finally runs like a 5.0 Cobra should. From the time that I first bought the car it was slow and did not ever pull like it should. I would drop the clutch at like 4grand and it would spin for about 10feet and go. Well the check engine light started coming on a few months ago and got to be more persistent. I had a shop check it out and they cleaned the Mass Air Flow sensor(yes I do know the ins and outs of this)........................... but, OH MY GOD WHAT A DIFFERENCE...........................My mostly stock car went from like a high 14 sec car to a high 13..........low14sec car.Now traction is a problem at anything over 2,000 rpms when dumping the clutch..........................
Gears will be next along with some pm stuff.
Its great owning a 5.0 Cobra that is one of the few with cloth seats, prefer them over the leather.....LOL.

Yeah when your buying a car do the cheap easy maitainence stuff and it might get rid of problems like hesitation and sluggishness. Air and fuel filters, spark plugs, wires, maybe ignition coils and fuel injector cleaner are cheap things to do to baseline a car and make sure it should run as it should. Yeah I noticed a change as well after doing minor stuff like that to a beat up car I had a while back.

Not saying this was the cause of your problem but... many people over oil their K&N filter the first time they service it. The excess oil ends up coating everything inside the MAF which will cause a big loss in performance.
